Spirit of 608: Fashion, Entrepreneurship, Sustainability + Tech

Jun 28, 2016

When serial entrepreneur Mary Going set out to solve her own problem, little did she know she was about to pioneer a new approach to LGBTQ fashion - one that prizes clothing styled for identity, not gender. But that's what happened as she discovered the joy of a perfect-fitting suit custom-made for her upcoming wedding. After years of not feeling like clothing was an ally in her life, she saw how it could become a game-changer in others' lives - and so she did something about it and started a company. At Saint Harridan - and as of last week - in a new online marketplace dubbed Harridan Township, Mary and her team bring clothing to shoppers who often meet with disappointment in mainstream stores. From men's suits and button-downs tailored for all shapes and sizes to dresses and feminine clothing men and trans men can wear, Mary's company seeks to bring the experience of loving how you feel in what you wear to a long underserved population. Plus, she's got a pretty good story to how she got to where she is today and some gems of advice for people setting out on an entrepreneurial path of their own.
